Ear wax is naturally produced to help protect the ear from infection.  This wax normally works its way out itself as new wax is formed.  Occasionally this natural process may be disturbed and you may require ear irrigation at the Surgery or in some cases as an outpatient at hospital.

If you need to have your ear(s) irrigated (syringed) please make an appointment with one of our nurses.

You should prepare your ear for irrigation by using olive oil or almond oil (if no nut allergy) twice a day for a minimum of seven days prior to your appointment.

Please see the information sheet 'Ear Wax Removal' in the 'Our Documents' section in the right margin of this Webpage.
